Why are the letters on the keyboard not in alphabetical order?

BUT WHY ARE THE LETTERS ON THE KEYBOARD NOT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER?

The keyboard existed since 1874, when the first typewriters were introduced to the market. At some point, typists had learned to type so fast that it would jam the typewriter system and get the paper stuck!

So it was decided that the letters on the keyboard should be more randomly scattered (with the most frequently used letters on the left side) instead of being in alphabetical order, in order to make it a bit more difficult for typists and make them type slower!

The jams on the typewriter took much more time than the time saved by typing quickly!

So all keyboards started with the QWERTY letters and typists got used to it, and no one wanted to be trained again in case keyboards with a different letter arrangement came out!

This tradition has therefore lasted until today, for computer and laptop keyboards!

In French-speaking countries, you may find it difficult to type, because there the keyboard does not have the QWERTY layout, but AZERTY. You might say it's just two letters, instead of QW it's AZ, but I CHALLENGE YOU to switch the position of the "A" and see HOW difficult life becomes.

Also, in Central European countries, the QWERTZ keyboard is very common, because the letter Z is used more by German-speaking countries than the letter Y, so they put it in a more convenient position.
