What is the essence of contemporary anti-Semitism and why does it appear in the form of radical "anti-Zionism"? Is conspiracy theory becoming a dominant ideology? Extremism, radicalism, far right, populism, anti-Semitism, jihadism, conspiracy theory: around these terms, and the realities they symbolize, revolves a timely, daring, and pioneering reflection, beyond and against "political correctness" and ready-made thinking. As Andreas Pantazopoulos aptly states in the book's preface: "For Taguieff, the defense of freedom and democracy presupposes the best possible knowledge of their enemies. Conceptual vagueness, demonization of the opponent, reducing all evils to the 'social issue' or even racism, do not help the necessary and multi-layered response to 'extremism'."
