Early 1990s. A group of Basque separatist militants detonates a hotel under construction in southwestern France. The gendarmerie intervenes and during the exchange of gunfire, one of the separatists is injured and escapes to Bordeaux with his companion Emilia. There they are helped by Pierre, a former leftist and former lover of the girl, who decides to transport them to the Basque Country for the injured man's care. They are unaware that Angel Matanhas, a psychopathic hitman hired by the Spanish services, is following them closely. As for the French police, they devise a Machiavellian plan to trap the fugitives...
