"Organic Chemistry" by John McMurry is considered worldwide the most reliable and user-friendly teaching manual for organic chemistry at the tertiary level. Established for decades, it has been translated into many languages, bringing at least 1,000,000 students worldwide into substantial contact with organic chemistry. Its Greek edition, approximately 20 years ago, received an impressive reception from our academic community - teachers and students. The 9th American edition, the translation of which is the 2nd Greek edition, maintains the virtues of the previous editions: comprehensive coverage of topics, clarity, scientific validity, and the renowned writing style of McMurry himself. However, the new edition is even better. It has many more problems and exercises, innovative mechanisms for reviewing and consolidating the material, while being fully updated in cutting-edge fields such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. McMurry's "Organic Chemistry" remains - even in its latest edition - the standard against which all other textbooks in this specific scientific field are measured.
