Description

For the first time in Greek literature, a book combining the Morphology, Anatomy, and Physiology of higher plants is being released. The book is innovative in terms of its text structure, as the structure and function of plant tissues and organs are treated as a unified whole, rather than being examined separately.
The text is accompanied by numerous original photographs taken with optical and electronic microscopes (Scanning and Transmission), as well as field photographs. Dozens of color explanatory diagrams and tables contribute to the understanding of mechanisms and the grouping of complex concepts. The book also emphasizes practical applications, such as plant nutrition, with extensive references to nutrient deficiencies (accompanied by color photographs of symptoms) and hydroponic cultivation. In addition, forty special topics in the form of inserts contribute to the connection between theory and practice. The contents are divided into thematic units as follows:
Chapter 1. Organisms consist of organic and inorganic components, Ch. 2. The typical plant cell has a characteristic structure, Ch. 3. Tissues form organs, Ch. 4. The structure and function of the root, Ch. 5. The structure and function of leaves, Ch. 6. The structure and function of the shoot, Ch. 7. The structure and function of the flower, Ch. 8. The structure and function of the seed, Ch. 9. The development and functions of a plant's organs are harmonized with each other and with the conditions prevailing in the external environment, Ch. 10. Plant defense against biotic stress factors, Ch. 11. Human activities endanger the planet's flora, Ch. 12. Plants in the Mediterranean environment.
