Description

New York, 2001 - Bali, 2002 - Madrid, 2004: The Express of Terror continues its crazy race and everyone wonders who will be the next stops. The government firefighters of Bush continue their World War IV, after the two hot and one cold of the 20th century, under the pretext of international terrorism. Another "social global war" is unfolding within the Western Democracies in the name of fighting crime. There is a risk that the century of great social, cultural, and scientific revolutions will give way to a dark Age of Fear.
The author examines the dangers posed to modern Democracies by turning to neo-authoritarian forms of governance in combination with the new Tyrannies of the 21st century: the suffocating control of politics by big economic interests and the media, supranational economic and political organizations, as well as the euphemistically called Non-Governmental Organizations, which often function not as counterweights but as Trojan horses of the Empire. The degradation of democracy from a form of exercising popular sovereignty to a machine for producing a predetermined consensus - a kind of "new totalitarianism" of the digital age - is considered the sum of all these. However, every action creates a reaction, and the gray global background fills with colors when consumers of fearful news become producers of historical events.
