Applied Statistics is a comprehensive presentation of basic statistical methods and their application. The topics and overall structure of the material allow it to be used as an introductory statistics book for tertiary students, while also serving as a useful guide for applying statistical methods in empirical research approaches. The arrangement of the material and the presentation of the topics are such that previous knowledge of statistical methodology is not required of readers. On the other hand, the mathematics required to understand the concepts and methods discussed are those of elementary algebra, which any high school graduate has learned.
Special emphasis is placed on the use of appropriate statistical software as a necessary prerequisite for the application of methods, especially in empirical research. To this end, in the corresponding chapters, the examples are solved using SPSS, accompanied by commentary on the generated results (outputs). The descriptive measures and inferential tests used by SPSS are fully explained and analyzed in the theoretical part of the book, providing users of the respective methods with the theoretical and technical documentation for their application.
