The book is different from any other polyphonic edition that has been released, as it is the result of both the personal journey of the authors participating in the edition and the collective one. However, the most substantial and important aspect is a creation "Out of Non-Being".
In the context of the "Literary Café" group, many months of approach and study of significant and real writers preceded the writing, who have provided insightful confessional texts from the 17th century to the present day. The group, those who wanted to actively participate in this process, had the opportunity, under the guidance of the editor of Tyrfi publications, Konstantinos Telios, to deeply engage with the works of the examined writers, with the historical and social context that shaped them, as well as with their personal concerns, failures, peculiarities, problems, and reflections. Through these, to experiment in writing under the influence of the analyzed texts and with a common axis for all, a certain kind of loss, from the minimum to the maximum, as well as the existential turmoil and vibrations it triggers, which can sometimes reach extreme points.
This study was a unique experience in every aspect, with the theme of loss serving as a spark of inspiration. The examination of the works of the examined writers was a challenge of self-exploration and practice in written language, while at the same time, the attempt of noble coexistence and exchange of thoughts and ideas with so many different individuals, even when opinions diverged, provided a therapeutic release.
In the context of the encouragement of the participants in specific genres of writing, the writers examined were: Georg Büchner / Giacomo Leopardi / Yukio Mishima / Curzio Malaparte / Maurice Blanchot / Paul Valéry / Thomas Bernhard / Herman Melville / Arthur Miller / Walter Benjamin / Valam Salamov / Izidor Dukas / Dante Alighieri / Marquis de Sade / G. Maniatis, etc.
This edition of "Tyrfi" is the result of months of effort and experimentation by its authors and coordinator, who collaborated towards the initial direction both emotionally and technically, but also based on the philosophy of the publications, which is the search and promotion of new voices, with quality criteria set by literary theory, as well as with originality, novelty, dignity, and authenticity. "Tyrfi" publications can confidently claim that the whole original endeavor was truly worth it.
