Completely useless. Waste of money. I don't care if it measures in 10" or 10 hours. I expect accuracy in the measurements. Besides the fact that it makes some invalid measurements and stops at 35.9 or 36.1 even when taking a regular measurement, the deviation is over 0.5. It showed 37.5 on a mercury thermometer and this one showed 36.9. Basically, it's garbage. Many measurements have been taken, not just 5-10. The comments stating that some people don't measure it correctly and that you should leave it and then listen for the sound the thermometer makes are not valid. The thermometer makes a sharp sound when opened. From the moment you put it for measurement, you wait from 30" to 2' until you hear a sound like an alarm clock. From there on, even if you put it in the oven, it doesn't go higher. If you get it for kids to play with, it has a good price. If it's for health purposes, it is dangerously inaccurate.

  I tried the Omron eco basic thermometer alongside an old mercury thermometer.
  The Omron showed 36.8 (beep) while the mercury showed 37.5.
  Both were used orally. They say that orally is the best way.
  Since I didn't have a fever, the mercury wasn't accurate, and the idea that it lasts forever is probably a myth. Also, mercury is dangerous and very difficult to capture in a photograph.
  I will probably get another digital one so I can have a second measurement.
  The Omron is not exactly fast, but it showed correctly and that's what matters.
  The good thing about the digital one is that you can see in the mirror when it's rising, so you know you have to wait.

  It is not particularly accurate in measurements, but it does not have a huge deviation either. After about a year of use, we have noticed that it shows slightly higher (about half a degree) compared to mercury-gallium. It is not fast. It is good to have as a compass when it is not easy to use mercury or you do not want to wait 5 minutes with gallium.

  So, since it takes at least 5 minutes for accurate measurement (as most of you say), why don't you buy a galium thermometer to have peace of mind? It costs the same, takes the same amount of time to measure, and doesn't require batteries. And, you know, you can be sure about the result!

  It seemed good but it shows incorrect measurements, meaning it gets stuck at one temperature and then after a few seconds it goes up by 10 units, meaning where it told me 37.7, it stuck at 2 minutes and went up to 39.   Quite a good thermometer. It has a deviation of about -0.3 degrees (lower) compared to the analog one, which I trust more when there is a fever (at normal body temperature, not).
  For accurate measurement, the minimum programmed time is not enough. In my own tests in axillary measurement, it takes ~8.5 minutes to obtain the most accurate measurement it can, closer to the measurements of a branded analog thermometer.

  I bought this device knowing that there is a reputation that any electronic measurement with thermometer or blood pressure devices faces a relative deviation from the actual values. Checking this reputation myself, I found that the temperature measurement from my armpit gave me 35 degrees Celsius, while at the same time the temperature measurement from my mouth gave me 36.4. If a device, at the same time, has a deviation of 1.5 units, you understand that we are not talking about device reliability or measurement accuracy. And so, with concise procedures, we end up with the traditional, slow but accurate and respectable way of measuring temperature with classic thermometers.

  No one in Greece ever reads the instructions... If you read them, you would see that it takes 5 minutes to show the correct temperature, not as soon as it beeps.   I think this thermometer has been unfairly reviewed. Giving it 2 or 3 stars and saying that it is not suitable for babies because it takes longer to measure (in essence, it takes slightly less time than a mercury thermometer), but that the measurements are reliable. Who said it was for babies and for quick measurement and judged it as such? There is another Omron model that also includes a baby in the packaging and claims to be specifically for quick measurement for babies. Of course, it also costs twice as much. This little thermometer is great. Very good build quality and easy to use. It beeps in 2 minutes and you're done. Compared to a glass mercury thermometer, it gives me the same readings.
