The present edition of "Aphorisms" is not a critique, as it is made by a doctor who does not intend to appropriate the role of a literary critic. Its character is determined more by its medical nature and less by its philological nature, because the "Aphorisms" are primarily a medical text. In this edition, the ancient text follows, with minimal deviations, the edition of E. Littre, "Oeuvres completes d' Hippocrate", vol. IV, pp. 458-609.
