I bought it for general use and hiking. It does the absolute basics and necessary. The compass, barometer, and altimeter are quite accurate. I'm not sure about the steps, I think it shows more. The route recording is very good, showing the basics you need without too much information. The light is purple, illuminating the screen and the hands. The feature where you can save a GPS waypoint is very nice, so if you get lost, it can guide you back to the waypoint, showing you the direction and distance to the saved point. The strap is not the best, it's not as flexible as I would like. The application for the protrek has changed. The old one is no longer updated, and the new one is the Casio watch, through which all settings are easily made. For its price, it is excellent.
The watch is perfect for the use I wanted it for (hiking). In combination with the mobile application (Pro Trek connected), it records the route, with all the information I need (time, distance, altitude difference), as well as displaying the route on a map.
The time synchronizes directly when connected to the mobile. It also calibrates automatically again with the mobile connection. An excellent product once again from Casio. I give it 4 stars only because it is not solar-powered.
Extremely sturdy, perfect size for small to medium wrists, quite lightweight, and overall the quality seems so good that the watch gives the impression that it will last for many years. It is also much more beautiful in person compared to the photos, personally I consider it the most beautiful and discreet Protrek. As for the display, it is gorgeous and in no way is it difficult to use, with many options. 10/10 from me
It is not a smartwatch and should not be compared as such. It is for people who enjoy hiking and will put it through its paces on their routes.
Today, on 28/8/21, I am exactly one year into using it and I have gotten to know it thoroughly.
It is not suitable for people who like to play with their watch, searching for menus for many features.
I bought it for €210, knowing what I was getting.
I have submerged it in saltwater for an hour, left it in the sun inside the car at 55°C, accidentally hit it with a pressure washer, dropped it from a height of 4 meters onto a sidewalk, and my son ran over it with his bicycle. It is scratch-free like the first day.
It synchronizes with the protrek app on the phone. When you start hiking, you press a button on the watch and it records your position every 5 seconds or 2 minutes, depending on how you set it. It takes the position from the phone's GPS and the altitude from the watch's sensor and combines them.
In the end, it shows you the route on a map within the app.

a really useful tool! It's not a smartwatch. If you want a smartwatch, don't choose it....
