"The history and culture of China" is the first Greek book that deals comprehensively with this great and extremely interesting subject. Its publication takes place at a time when the most populous nation on Earth (1/5 of the world's population), having overcome age-old historical problems and recent dogmas, is moving rapidly towards a bright future. There are many who predict that China will be the political, economic, and cultural superpower of the 21st century.

Thodoros Karzis based the writing of both the historical and cultural parts on an unbiased presentation of the events and a strict documentation of the crises, from both Chinese and Western sources. He also attempts a frequent comparison between Chinese and Greek culture.

All of these, along with the fact that the edition is luxurious and bilingual and is adorned with 300 rare color (mostly) images, make the work unique in Greek literature.
