Description

A flood of nostalgia for the sixties has flooded the internet, especially in the years following the outbreak of the economic crisis. However, this is not the first time that the sixties have emerged as a privileged "lunar park" of our collective memory. Already since the late seventies, the sixties have been designated as a "golden age", during which the flourishing of culture went hand in hand with the emergence of mythical collectives and political claims. As usual, this reading of the past is experienced as a "Spring" that was almost destined to become "Lost". In the face of the selective reading of the past, this study opens a window into social distress, which during the sixties was the norm for extended layers of the population, especially in the difficult neighborhoods of poverty and deprivation. Starting from the headlines of the press and the police reports from six Athens neighborhoods and suburbs, self-killers, pedophiles, con artists, adulterers, and other "Cursed" parade on the pages of this book, in a truly historic moment, when the Anendotos reaches its climax on the day after the murder of Lambrakis. In this sense, the book attempts to converse with the literary projects of the Great Masters of Words (Vasilikos, Valtinos, Korovinis, Charitopoulos), in whose contributions it identifies a greater "truth" about the sixties than in the academic approaches that have been carried out until today for this undoubtedly fascinating decade.
