The Octagon Blackout 8 by Coleman is a spacious octagonal tent that can comfortably accommodate 8 people.

Construction

It features windows with mesh all around the perimeter of the tent, so you can open or close the ones that suit you each time. Additionally, it has a durable, waterproof polyethylene floor and a sturdy frame made of steel and fiberglass, which is very easy to set up. It also has a large D-shaped door for easy access to the interior.

Fiberglass frame

The frame made of fiberglass is a common choice for the construction of camping tents. It is a lightweight and durable material, made from fiberglass fibers that are usually coated with polyester to protect them from water and moisture.

What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?

The waterproofing of a tent indicates how much water its outer fabric can repel. It is measured in millimeters (mm) and refers to the number of millimeters of a vertical water column (and thus pressure) that one square centimeter of fabric can withstand without being penetrated by water.

The higher the degree of waterproofing, the less breathable the fabric is, and thus the warmer the tent. Common waterproofing values range from 500mm to 10000mm. Theoretically, any fabric with waterproofing >1000mm is considered waterproof. Indicatively, a summer tent may have waterproofing from 500 to 1500mm.

    I have had it for 3 years and I can say that it is extra value for money as it has withstood every extreme weather phenomenon, even heavy hail. The only negative is that if you want it for very cold temperatures, even with a gas heater, you won't be able to withstand it.

    Just set it up, easier than I expected truth be told, nice colors, almost dark inside when you close the windows, not tested in rain and wind.
