The new RDNA 2 architecture in AMD's new Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs also forms the foundation of the next-generation Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, introducing many new innovations and optimizations for higher performance and photorealistic graphics. Among the new features are the redesigned Compute Unit, the new Visual Pipeline with Ray Tracing Accelerators, and the Infinity Cache (96MB or 128MB depending on the model) for higher bandwidth with lower latency.

A new feature of each Compute Unit inside every new Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics processor is the high-performance ray tracing acceleration unit, the well-known rendering technique that increases the level of realism in modern games. The new graphics cards incorporate specialized hardware for ray tracing acceleration called Ray Accelerator, resulting in significantly higher performance compared to software-based implementations.
