I finally decided to invest in a quality bag before parting with my classic Nikon shoulder bag. The difference is huge.
Inside the bag, I can fit the impressive 50mm Sigma Art, a "chunky" lens.
I also have the Sigma 12-24, as well as my cameras, the Nikon D3400 and my main camera, the Nikon D800, with the Sigma 105mm lens attached to it.
I have small items like a power bank, SD cards, blower, battery charger, a light cube, and macro extension tubes, and there is still space for small objects if needed.
Externally, I have also placed the Manfrotto Element MII Aluminium tripod, which has a clip so that the tripod remains stable and secure, without the fear of it falling.
I noticed that many people say it gets dirty easily. I don't consider it a problem because no matter what backpack I used, the same would happen. I use it for macro photography in the forest, so it's logical for it to get dirty.
Happy shopping!
Very recent purchase from a Greek photography store for €70, after first seeing the product on the official Case Logic website and its corresponding presentation video so that I could carry my camera equipment and a laptop/tablet. Until now, I have been using a Crumpler or the Manfrotto Advanced Tri Medium for transporting my full equipment.
The positives I recognize in it so far:
- Excellent build quality, evident from the first touch that it is a well-crafted and well-designed bag for its intended purpose.
- The weight you carry is not noticeable. As you can see in the third photo, I have temporarily added a camera with a lens, a second lens, the GoPro, a Mavic Air 2 with controller and batteries, chargers, etc. So far, I feel that it is a quite comfortable transport bag (not for quick access to equipment) for my outings.
Its negatives (personal opinion):
- Supposedly, the bag can fit a MacBook Pro 16 or a 14' laptop. There is indeed a suitable compartment, but I dare not put the MBP in it. The space is so compressed that either the laptop will be damaged/scratched, or I will damage it by carrying it on my back. I will probably use the compartment for the iPad Pro, which definitely fits.
- There is a smart pocket on the left side of the bag (as seen in photo 1) with 2 mesh pockets for small items and a pocket for stationery. Although practical, it would be convenient to have one on the other side as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist.
- It gets dirty relatively easily. You will notice as soon as you hold it in your hands that the fabric/material absorbs fingerprints, etc. Although it bothers me a little because I don't mind cleaning it constantly, I consider it a negative aspect for outings.
Overall, it is probably what I personally was looking for. Time will tell whether it will become the main equipment transport bag or not. However, the overall impression is very positive for the first few days. 4 stars, clearly for the negatives I mentioned above, which are purely subjective opinions.
Update 05/11/21. It is actually very good. 2 trips abroad with full equipment, and the transport was not tiring at all. Despite unstable weather/rain, etc., I did not encounter any problems since it includes a rain cover, and its base is made of hard plastic.
Update 04/9/22. The knitted fabric on the back is starting to wear out.
