Two were mainly the reasons that led to the design and implementation of the post-hand volumes: on the one hand, the realization that in recent years Greek folklore has made significant progress, not only because it is taught in a large number of departments and schools of Greek higher education institutions, but mainly because it has been renewed thematically, theoretically, and methodologically; on the other hand, the lack of a collective theoretical work-manual in Greek folklore bibliography for the introduction to the study of folklore science in Greece, following the example of similar scientific and publishing efforts abroad, such as those curated, for example, by the leading American folklorist of our time, Professor Alan Dundes. In this context, our initial thought was to move away from the practice of a theoretical, historical, and methodological introductory manual, bearing the signature of a single individual, and to distribute the material of the two volumes in such a way that it would reflect both the dynamics of Greek folklore and the necessary polyphony in scientific approaches.
