"What do your own sacks contain, my dear? A bankruptcy, an expatriate, tax office slaps, failure in ASEP, a bad mother-in-law, a neurotic boss, a child who throws Molotov cocktails, a fireplace that fills the living room with smoke, acid reflux, acrophobia, infidelity, stretch marks on the butt. In Ioanna Karystiani's new novel, Vivi Choleva, the book's main heroine, works as a "live-in caregiver." She takes care of elderly people who need her care. She has a son, Linos, who walks on "strange and dark paths." A short leave becomes the reason for the two of them to go on a trip to Delphi. There, in the sacred site of Greek antiquity, mother and son will come closer, even though they are separated by a chasm of experiences, a gap that seems to have been unbridgeable for a long time. During the five days of the trip, their past unfolds while the reader, through the author's impetuous writing, gradually discovers what the sacks of the title are: the moral and psychological burdens carried by the heroes, but mainly the burdens that a large part of Greek society has been bearing for years, watching helplessly as history is written without them and life unfolds far away from them.

A book that "weighs" the burdens of people from working-class areas and opens wide the doors to the forbidden zones of our daily lives.
