With his short narratives, the author tends to recreate a world that is definitively lost and deeply nostalgic. It is his world of adolescence, with its local and temporal determinations, which give it its unique color.

The small provincial hometown, with its fragrant gardens and its touchingly vivid characters, during the years of war and occupation, or a little before or after. When, in short, the author, born in Pyrgos, Ilia in 1930, was a child, a teenager, a young man. The author does nothing to hide the autobiographical element of his stories - to mislead, perhaps, the reader in regards to the fictional[...] 

The authorial self, without openly intervening in the narrative, transfers to the narrator's perspective his own life experience, even its decay. And from this indistinct convergence of viewpoints, in my opinion, arises the characteristic tone of H.X. Papadimitrakopoulos' stories, a blend of tenderness and irony, drama and humor, external lyricism and discreet critical stance [...].
