In 2020, a year marked by Covid-19 and the collapse of the oil market, a multitude of upheavals took place from the Middle East to European neighborhoods. In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a breakthrough occurred: on one side, an alliance named after the prophet Abraham was formed, stretching from the United States to Abu Dhabi, Morocco, and Sudan, passing through Israel, Egypt, and Arabia, and overlooking Iraq; on the other side, the "Axis of Brothers and Shiites" covering Gaza, Qatar, Turkey, and Iran, occasionally supported by Russia.

Amidst these tectonic disturbances, Beirut was rocked by an explosion, refugees and illegal immigrants continue to flow massively into Europe, and Turkey's actions provoke reactions in the Arab world. Finally, terrorism struck again in France and Austria, under a new form of action by a jihad that no longer has a central administration but has scattered hotspots in the Muslim world. Meanwhile, Joe Biden is trying to restore America's allies' trust.

Continuing the reflection developed in his best-selling book "Exit from Chaos - Crisis in the Mediterranean and the Middle East," Gilles Kepel presents, with the help of maps and an extensive timeline, the necessary broad view of current events in order to understand the major changes expected in the near future.
