Statistics is now an integral part of quantitative analysis in the field of social sciences and education. This book aims to present the main techniques of statistical analysis in these specific fields. It is addressed to those who are starting their involvement in the field of statistical data analysis, as well as to more experienced researchers (e.g. postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, researchers) who wish to be informed about advanced methodologies in the field of applied statistics.

The book can be "divided" into two parts. The first part consists of Chapters 1-9 and covers the most well-known statistical approaches in the field of social sciences. In most of these chapters, a strong mathematical background is not required and the material is equivalent to an undergraduate program of study or is sufficient for an initial approach at a postgraduate level. In the second part (Chapters 10-14), the most modern statistical techniques are presented. Here, a good knowledge of the previous chapters is necessary, and there is a more frequent reference to the mathematical properties of the statistical techniques. These chapters are more useful for researchers, mainly at a doctoral level, with a good mathematical level, while the use of other statistical software is also made. At the end of the book, there are appendices with references to electronic pages for a better explanation of certain points of the text, and an extensive bibliography for further study.

The dominant spirit of the book is the presentation of various statistical techniques without the use of "difficult" mathematical concepts, which often act as deterrents to the reader's interest. For this reason, the authors focused on the "practical" dimension of Statistics mainly (but not exclusively) through the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). However, for the reader familiar with mathematics, there are several references to mathematical methodology, which are not necessary for the practical understanding of statistical techniques by those who do not have the appropriate background.
