I purchased 2 from the same store for use in a Synology NAS and one more from another store as a spare / for use in an external USB3 enclosure. All were ultimately white label (OEM) and from the same batch with OEM firmware. (The lowest price for the same product has these). The first two operate very quickly in the NAS with temperatures of 42-48 degrees (idle / light use) after I increased the fan speed (summer room temperatures without air conditioning). The third one in an open external enclosure reached 66 degrees (!) during the copying of continuous large files after 2-3 hours, so I canceled the copy and let it cool down. In summary: Fast CMR mechanical drive, without annoying noise during use, one of the last "classic" - without high-capacity sun. I recommend it for use in a well-ventilated case / NAS and RAID. For storage / frequent use of large files (photos / videos). Prefer to buy from a store with good reviews that will ensure the 5-year warranty with the serial number on the purchase receipt (OEM versions are not covered with the serial number on Seagate's site).
It is a very good disk. I have had it for about 7 months. In NTFS 7.27 TB. In 2 partitions, a total of 7.46 TB. It has been connected as an external drive to a mini PC with an I7 in an Icy-box case, and the temperature is around 45 to 49 degrees. It is connected via USB C 3.2, so it takes the full speed of the Sata 3 bus. It plays on the EMBY server, and the streaming is excellent. Cloud backup from the mobile phones and storage backup from 2 PCs is immediate. This is the 4th Seagate I have, and I can say that they are very good and reliable. Gradually, I have started to switch from WD, initially 2 internal 4TB and one 2.5 3TB, and now to this 8TB.
Excellent HDD / spinning with a 5-year manufacturer warranty, as it is an enterprise class model.
In my possession for about 9 months during which it has been cool, minimally noisy for an HDD, and very reliable. Best purchase at that time (costing around 150€). In my case, however, it came as a bulk item with bubble wrap protection and anti-static packaging, without a box.
It is not filled with helium, as it is a conventional technology HDD. However, the temperatures are similar to the WD/Hitachi Ultrastar HC510, 10TB helium (which I also had but failed within a year with prohibitive data recovery costs...), as well as the read-write speed, especially for small files. The performance is comparable, to some extent, to low-level SSDs, while the noise is really minimal for an HDD, in my case.
Clearly a worthwhile choice given the good temperature and response, with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. Just be cautious about the serial numbers, as for certain batches the factory warranty may not be provided (without any liability on the part of the retailers, of course). In such cases, either the return-replacement or the claim for an equivalent warranty period directly from the store is not harmful, if the disk shows no issues in S.M.A.R.T. checks and self-diagnostic tests immediately after purchase.
