Description

Adrianople, 1910

Fani, a young girl, sees her destiny change from one day to another. Everyone congratulates her on her good fortune to marry the handsome Panagiotis, the son of a wealthy landowner, and become overnight the lady of Adrianople. They live together with their three children for several years of absolute happiness in a land overflowing with scents and fruits, until the forced population exchange in 1923 overturns their lives forever.

Fani and Panagiotis, along with many other compatriots, are forced to leave their homes and fertile land and become refugees in war-torn Greece of '22. The other side of the Evros River will embrace their wounds but will not heal the wound of uprooting. The village where they will settle bears no resemblance to their homeland. Ruined houses, dirt and mud everywhere. Hunger, diseases, and destitution become their relentless enemies. But life makes you fight, hoping to find your lost paradise again…

The true story of Fani. A woman who learned to walk hand in hand with pain until her last breath, who no matter how hard she tried to blur the images in her mind, the memory of her birthplace was always a point of reference and nostalgia for the life she lived.
