Description

The Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is a zoom lens with a large aperture suitable for everyday use, compatible with APS-C mirrorless cameras that support Fujifilm X Mount.

The Tamron lens is equipped with exclusive VC stabilization technology. At the same time, it can focus at 0.19m in wide angle and 0.39m in telephoto. So when shooting close to your subject, you will have a beautiful defocused background.

Ideal for use in all types of photography

This versatile zoom lens allows you to enjoy shooting in many types, from wide-angle shots to telephoto shots. With a focal length range from 17mm to 70mm (full-frame equivalent 25.5-105mm), this is the world's first zoom lens with a fast F2.8 aperture for APS-C mirrorless cameras that achieves a 4.1x zoom ratio.

It is ideal for a variety of photos, from portraits and street snapshots to landscapes and even close-up shots.

Fast F2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range for Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount

The Tamron lens maintains the fast maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range (unlike variable aperture lenses where the maximum aperture changes as you zoom).

Thanks to the F2.8 and high optical performance, it allows you to capture your subjects with clear details from wide-angle to telephoto.

The three main advantages of the fast F2.8 aperture are as follows:

  • Ability to shoot successfully in lower light levels
  • Beautiful and dreamy bokeh
  • Better control of depth of field

Structurally, the lens includes 16 elements in 12 groups, and was created with the pursuit of superior optical performance in mind, using an effective distribution of two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one hybrid aspherical lens element. The optical design ensures high resolution and high contrast not only in the center of the image but also in the corners and edges.

Your key to beautiful, brilliant video shots

The 17-70mm F2.8 lens is a standard zoom lens that is ideal not only for photos but also for video shooting. The silent RXD AF drive motor and the VC image stabilization mechanism make handheld video shooting easier.

Tamron VC for stable photography and video shooting

The Tamron lens uses the highly acclaimed VC image stabilization system to maximize the lens's optical performance.

It reduces the degradation of image quality caused by the tiny shake of the camera, which is likely to occur when shooting handheld at slow shutter speeds in low light conditions, whether indoors or at dusk.

When shooting video, the image stabilization utilizing AI technology will automatically make the best compensation for different shooting situations.

The high-performance autofocus system means that every shooting opportunity will be yours

The AF unit of the 17-70mm F2.8 includes an RXD motor to help you stay focused on the action. The RXD unit uses an actuator to precisely control the angle of rotation of the motor, allowing it to move the focusing lens directly without passing through a reducer.

A sensor that accurately detects the position of the lens allows for fast and precise autofocus, which is ideal when shooting continuously moving subjects or when recording video.

Also, with a focusing system that is both smooth and quiet, the Tamron lens allows you to shoot without worrying about annoying sounds.

MOD 0.19m (7.5 in) for stunning close-ups

This advanced lens focuses extremely close, with a MOD of just 0.19 m (7.5 in) at the wide-angle end and 0.39 m (15.4 in) at the telephoto end. When shooting very close to the subject, the lens allows for expressive images with an extremely blurred background, a feature unique to fast aperture lenses.

This allows you to create unique photos from a variety of subjects, from snapshots to portraits, landscapes, and even architectural photos. Close-up shots of your main subjects taken at the 17 mm end maximize the unique perspective that only true wide-angle lenses can offer.

I got him for the Fuji XT-4, which I use exclusively for video, in order to upgrade from the also excellent (although kit) 18-55 2.8-4. The reason I didn't go for the Fuji 16-55 2.8 was the stabilization that this lens offers. Unfortunately, in this particular aspect, this lens cannot perform as well as the equivalent Fuji lenses with OIS. Since this lens has the system called Tamron VC (Vibration Compensation), it fails to synchronize well with Fuji's IBIS, resulting in small jitters and frustration in every handheld motion (pan, tilt), so you have to fix it in post. This is also the reason why I don't give it 5 stars, as it limits your movements in handheld run n gun situations. Other than that, the color rendering is amazing, excellent sharpness, and nice bokeh at 2.8. If you use it with a monopod, it's worth every penny and more.

I have a Fujifilm system and lenses: 18-55mm, 70-300mm, and prime 50mm and 35mm. Tamron was chosen because of its (bright) constant aperture throughout the focal range. At 70mm with f2.8, it is sharp enough to give a very high-quality result with a little editing. Its weight is ideal for carrying it everywhere with a mirrorless camera. With the 17-70mm, you can capture almost everything, as well as very good portraits. The aperture allows you to achieve very good results in closed spaces, mysteries, etc. Its colors blend perfectly with the Fuji. A very good choice and a very versatile lens.
