Description

The Dutchman's Creek, a torrential stream with steep banks, runs through the forests around Woodstock, in the northern part of New York State, full of promises for aspiring fishermen.

Such fishermen are Abe and Dan, two friends who found solace for the loss of their loved ones in their shared passion for fishing. However, the rumors that accompany the Dutchman's Creek do not only speak of an isolated fishing spot but also of a secret that lies there and that might help Dan and Abe ease their sorrow.

Although both of them treat these rumors as superstitions, they will soon find themselves entangled in a story as dark as the torrential waters of that stream, centered around a mysterious man nicknamed the Fisherman, a story that will confront them with the losses they have experienced and the price they will have to pay to replace them.

The Fisherman, one of the most thrilling horror novels of recent years, speaks of loss, loneliness, and friendship, with intricate writing, a meticulously crafted plot, and dark imagination, combining the biblical story of Job, Herman Melville's Moby Dick, and the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. In 2016, The Fisherman won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel.

Review this product
  • Very good writing style and the plot flowed very smoothly. The storyline wasn't the most interesting or essential, I wouldn't read another book by the same author.
