Description

This book follows the adventures and transformations of two fundamental concepts in anthropology: culture and ethnography, concepts whose questioning has led anthropology to a critical turning point. And it seems that the possible ways out of the crisis will necessarily be shaped through these two concepts, as they constantly expand and change in order to capture as faithfully and accurately as possible social reality.

Through this process, the way in which the concept of culture converses with the concept of society is outlined, and how, through this dialogue, new concepts/tools emerge, such as practice, discourse, power, and authority, which directly influence the application of ethnography both as a research process and method and as a way of writing.

Thus, the American school of cultural anthropology meets the British school of social anthropology, and both together converse based on the elements offered to this discussion by the French school of ethnology. The result of this dialogue and these fermentations is a revised, pluralistic, unified, wide-ranging, critical, and reflective anthropology.
