The subject of this work is the teaching of Pedagogical courses at the University of Athens from the academic year 1876-1877 (when they were initially taught by Philosophy and Philology professors whose main scientific work did not concern the science of education) until 1967-1968 (the year in which the fourth holder of the Pedagogical chair retires, while the dictatorship of the colonels has just been imposed in the country).
