I have two TWSBI ECO fountain pens with built-in piston for ink filling, and although they are functional and wonderful at the same time, I had two - let's say - complaints. One was that if you don't clean the nib relatively often and don't use the special silicone, sometimes the piston gets stuck and creates issues with ink flow. You have to turn the piston a bit to get the system going, and if you're not careful and the nib is too full, you end up with ink everywhere. So cleaning and silicone are necessary.
My other issue was that the caps of the ECO pens are screw-on. When you write and take breaks, you want to put the cap back on to prevent the nib from drying out, and screwing and unscrewing it can be a bit annoying.
So, the Swipe pen has a cap that closes with a simple press, and additionally, it gives you the option to use either ink cartridges or the spring-loaded filling system. And I will praise it because we're talking about a pen that:
1. Is super lightweight and well-designed, made for long writing sessions. It doesn't tire your hand.
2. The nib (personally, I prefer the 1.1) is heavenly, durable, glides like butter on paper, without any skips or scratches. We're talking about a writing experience.
3. It takes all standard Pelikan type ink cartridges.
4. It is adorable in design and comes in two other colors.
5. It can be fully disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.
6. The attention to detail from the manufacturer is unbelievable. They even included an extra spring to keep the cartridge securely in place.
I love this company, an incredible pen. I'm speaking to you with love, love.
