They are quite comfortable and slip-resistant on oily surfaces, etc. There is no protection for any type of metal in the front, it is purely for athletic work. The foot breathes relatively well and is reasonably waterproof. Personally, I come into contact with a lot of acidic dirt and I had no issues with the sole of the shoe or the upper leather. The specific shoe hurts when you bend your toes, inevitably it will open and possibly fray in some areas. With 5-6 days of use per week and depending on the wear and tear, their lifespan is between 6 to 12 months. I have already ordered the 4th pair.
