  Purchased for a 20-year-old house. I had to make 2 holes in the ceiling to screw in the base, which was not mentioned in the instructions or told to me by anyone. Of course, the package included the necessary items (plugs and screws). Also, I am not an electrician to have experience and opinion on the matter. Even the other lights I bought for the rest of the house have the exact same attachment to the ceiling, so they require 2 screws. This is probably a new way of hanging lights compared to the old way of simply hanging them from a hook.

  In any case, the build quality is very good, as well as the cost. I would highly recommend it!
