  Honest timer, does a good job outdoors with Christmas lights and doesn't break. It is easy to adjust and all you have to do is push down the teeth with a straight electronic screwdriver from 5pm-12am or 1am, etc. Then you plug it in, connect the lights or the IP44 power strip like I have, set the time on the arrow, for example, 2pm, and as soon as it reaches 5pm, they will turn on and then turn off after a few hours that you have set. It's nothing, just make sure you have your phone nearby to set the correct time. If it's 1:40pm, for example, you adjust it to the second line between 1pm-2pm and they will turn on a few minutes earlier. You don't have to worry about the ticking sound, you can adjust it.
  Finally, if you want, do a test by setting it to run for 30 minutes initially since it already has 2 teeth pushed down when you hold it in your hands right after purchasing to see if it works correctly. Or, if you prefer, before plugging it in, leave it raised for it to be out of operation for 15 minutes, push down one or two more teeth, and as soon as they turn off from the first setting, they will turn on again in 15 minutes and then turn off again after 15 or 30 minutes (that's what I did as a test to make sure it works properly). Once the test operation is over, raise the teeth, make your own adjustments, and you are ready to use it, it's that simple!
