A lens kit that is simply ok! By buying an 18-140 and a 50mm 1.8, I left it aside. I now only use it if I want a long exposure shot that, when it reaches f/5.6, you don't even need ND filters.
Use on Nikon d7200! Small, light, fast, clean, reliable! It can do everything! It also has a closest focusing distance of 22cm (if I remember correctly)!!!! In my opinion, it should be in the bag of every amateur and professional photographer! Try it and judge for yourself! (It also works on older Nikon cameras without an update, I haven't seen any issues in automatic mode!)
I use it on a Nikon d5300, it was part of the kit. I have also used it with the Nikon d3100. It is lightweight and has good stabilization, which can only be disabled through the camera settings. It is quiet, and the zoom ring rotates relatively smoothly, although not as smoothly for videos. After years of use, it may start sticking at 35mm (I noticed this on the older d3100). The focus ring turns very well with accuracy, but it does not have a beginning or end and does not indicate anywhere the 0 and infinity, yet you will not have a problem. It focuses well and quietly, although autofocus also depends on the camera, not just the lens. In good light, however, you will not have a problem. It is not particularly bright, with a maximum aperture of 3.5 at 18mm, but it can still take astrophotography shots. The image quality is good for its price. It has good sharpness between f5.6 and f11 throughout the zoom range, but I noticed that it performs better between f6.3 and f9, especially at 35mm where it is excellent at f8. Of course, a better lens with fixed apertures will have better image quality, but if used correctly, where it has its best sharpness, there is no issue. Note that it does not have protection against water and dust (not weather sealed). Here are some photos I have taken with this lens and the d5300. Overall, it is a good kit lens to learn photography.
I bought it in Bulk packaging from a store that was offering a KIT. I bought it for just 80€. I bought it as a temporary solution until I get another flashlight. It is definitely a cheap flashlight, but it is not useless. It does its job quite well. It is very small in size, lightweight, and the focus is quite fast. It is worth buying for under 100€
A very honest lens for its price. The fact that it is a kit should not automatically be associated with the opinion that it is also disposable. Clearly, its range in combination with its variable aperture is binding for some already taken photos, however, the image quality and the minimal weight, especially for those who travel a lot, is quite decent. Try it on as many photos as you can before deciding to replace it, especially if you are a beginner like me. The results may not be so bad
I had my concerns about whether this specific lens would work with the D7100 that I have, as it is mentioned that there is partial compatibility with this particular camera. After downloading the latest Update C 1.04 as recommended, I tested it on the camera.
Result: It works perfectly. It autofocuses very quickly and completely silently. I had to enable the camera's "bip" for focus to double-check it.
Unfortunately, you cannot disable the VR from the camera, maybe in a future software upgrade, but anyway, I hardly ever use a tripod, so the VR is convenient.

Taking into account that it is a lens kit (and therefore it is intended for beginners or intermediate amateur photographers), it is very difficult to believe that it delivers such sharpness and depth of color in the photograph. In daylight conditions, you will not see any differences from the classic 35mm.

Although for some strange reason, prices in the entry-level category have increased a lot in the last year and they don't seem to be coming down.
I took him in the package along with the body of the camera. He is very good, good sharpness, good focus, good blur, generally a star for amateurs. If some people don't like it at night and it makes a lot of noise, get a tripod and make the necessary adjustments and you will see very good results.
It is the lens kit... do not expect incredible results... nevertheless, I must say that it is commendable... Especially this new generation with electronic focus does not perform like a tractor as before... so it is silent...
Very good for a lens kit, it does both a lot and a little. Great sharpness, fast and silent autofocus, even though it lacks a bit in videos. The VR does a great job. Completely satisfied
The Nikon Kit lens. After 7 months of use on the D3400. I have tried it on every type of photography: Landscapes, nature, close-up, street, portraits, long exposure.
1) Lightweight as it gets.
2) The VR gave me steady shots even at 1/8, which is truly remarkable.
3) COMPLETELY but COMPLETELY silent AF. Those of you shooting videos will appreciate it.
4) Fast AF.
5) Very good focus on close-ups. Obviously, with f/5.6, you can't call it the most suitable, but it focuses easily on VERY close subjects.
6) The huge downside is that the focus ring has no start and end. On the other hand, this ensures that it remains silent.
7) It is not for street photography due to the aperture. Sigma 17-50 is the king.
8) It is not sharp enough for portraits and landscapes.
9) It has no distortion and vignetting is minimal.
10) It is THE best you can have with you for Long Exposure! The color sharpness it produces and the image quality are BY FAR among the best compared to other much more expensive lenses.
I have the Sigma 17-50 as my main lens because of its constant f/2.8, but I ALWAYS have the 18-55 with me, along with a tripod and an ND4 filter, so I can take Long Exposures.
When I got the Sigma, I was thinking of buying ND filters for it by selling the 18-55, but in the end, I won't do it because the results are impressive.
I was very satisfied with it, compared to the 35mm DX lens that I also bought later. Since I mainly photograph landscapes, the 18mm of this lens (equivalent to 27mm for DX cameras, like mine) is perfect, unlike the 35mm (equivalent to 52mm for DX cameras) which, although very good for portraits (as it provides a much easier and pronounced bokeh/shallow depth of field), did not suit me at all for landscape photography (especially for larger frame sizes). Additionally, it is very lightweight and semi-collapsible (folds to about half its size), which is particularly useful for those who primarily use their camera during long trips and have limited space in their luggage. It is also completely silent (which is important when shooting videos and zooming, as the sound of zooming is not recorded). If these last three features do not particularly interest you, then seriously consider the option of the Nikor DX 18-105mm lens, which offers a significantly larger zoom range (and reportedly slightly better quality), as the price difference is not significant (around €70).
This lens is SHARP SHARP SHARP, no one expects it from such a cheap lens that comes almost free with the purchase of a body. Very good wide-angle lens for landscapes, family photos, and good for videos.

Generally, it is an average lens. It doesn't do anything well but also nothing poorly. With good lighting, it will produce decent photos. However, when the lighting decreases, the sharpness decreases significantly and there is noise (distortion). For someone starting out with DSLRs without many demands, it is good, but only up to a certain point.
It is a good and reliable lens for amateur use. Overall, it has satisfactory sharpness and does not distort colors too much. It also has moderate noise in focusing, which is not the fastest, but as we mentioned, it is good for amateur use. It is worth its money unless you prefer the 18-105mm lens, which is overall more qualitative.
I am very satisfied with the lens so far. Compared to the AF-S 18-55 VR that I used before, it is much better, not so much in terms of image quality (which is more or less the same) but in terms of incredibly fast autofocus. Also, in manual focus, the focus ring turns very smoothly (very good for video, that is) unlike the AF-S 18-55 VR which feels loose. I got it as a kit with the Nikon D5300 and I have had it for two weeks now, so I don't know about its durability. Otherwise, for a kit lens, I think it is the best choice for me, as I am involved in both video and photography. I hope I helped enough!
In general, a good lens for beginners...good sharpness, colors, and relatively fast focus. The build quality is quite good.
A very big positive is the complete lack of noise from the AF system during video...a feature that you don't even find in much more expensive models!
Buy the body with the specific lens kit. After one month, the lens developed a fault (autofocus failure). Within the warranty period, I went to the Nikon dealership and they informed me that it would take one month for the repair as the parts would come from Tokyo. When I mentioned lens rental, they didn't even discuss it, and they also don't discuss lens replacement with a new one. Otherwise, it is a normal lens for all uses and worth its money. However, the service experience is disappointing from the first contact I had. It is unthinkable for a lens at this price, sold as a body kit with many Nikon cameras, to not have spare parts stock in Greece and to be left hanging for such a long period of time.
