The 2nd updated edition of the article-by-article interpretation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU has been released, enriched with the recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
This work covers an important gap in Greek literature on constitutional and European law. The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU is interpreted article by article with the aim of providing a comprehensive, systematic, and practically oriented scientific analysis of its extensive content.
Each article presents the relevant foreign and Greek literature, the corresponding provisions in articles of the ECHR, International Conventions, and the Greek Constitution, the relevant derivative European law, and the points of contact and overlap with other articles of the Charter. The analysis combines theoretical processing with a critical presentation of case law.
In the second updated edition of the article-by-article interpretation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU, new points have been added both in the general theory of fundamental rights (Introduction and articles 51-54) and in the individual articles. The book has been enriched with new case law from the CJEU (as well as the ECtHR and the CoS) up until the end of November 2018. Significant decisions of the CJEU that have been published up until March 20, 2019 have also been taken into account.
The goal remains for the book to remain useful to lawyers, judges, public officials, students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, and researchers. A parallel goal is to deepen the critical understanding of the essential aspects of European protection of fundamental rights.
